3. LET IT BLEED - rolling Stones
Let It Bleed is one of the few Albums I can go through without feeling the urge to skip a single song. It contains one of the greatest and my favourite song of all time “ You Can’t always get what you want”. Released in 1969, it feels like the ending of an era and marks the shift in tone that the Stones make from the more idealistic 60’s to the more bitter, heavier music of 70’s.
2. Pet sounds - The Beach Boys
Some may disagree with this placement and say it should be in the number 1 but I disagree. I think it is a beautiful album that feels reminiscent to Revolver by the Beatles. There is a turmoil felt in every song ,the album has some of the happiest melodies with some of the most impactful lyrics overshadowing each other. The Best song on the album has to be “God Only Knows”.
1. Rubber Soul - The Beatles
Rubber Soul marks the peak of the Beatles performance as a group in the 60’s, it marks the best songwriting of the band. It shows the more experimental, yet simplistic sounds that can be seen in songs like “Norwegian Wood” and “You Won't See me”. My one criticism of the Album is that, I find the song “Girl” is dull and sad in an otherwise optimistic and happy album. I think that if you look past that small criticism it is a perfect album. My favourite song on the album is “ Nowhere Boy”. The Best song on the album is “ Norwegian Wood”.
